stotties...
Something I miss from home is Stotties!
It's yummy bread made only in Newcastle it seems, and sold in Greggs, although all the Greggs shops I've been in down South don't sell them! :o(
So, I purchased 8 Stotties and some Pease Pudding and Ham to bring back with me to make some delicious sandwiches.
And here it is, in all it's glory!

i'm from south shields and i was talking to someone down south and they dont get stotties, i thought that was incredibly wierd and availability of stottie will definatley affect my choice of university :)
Strangely, I also searched for stottie on google and found this! Thankfully, I am still in the North East and have a lovely Greggs close by!

We need to start a stottie appreciation society!
It really is annoying when you go into a Greggs down South and there is no stotties :o( Then again Greggs don't do half the things they sell back up North.
We're hopefully going back up for a visit soon and will be coming back laddedned with stotties, ham and pease pudding :o)
I used to go to school in Hebburn :o)
I miss stotties...
I'm originally from Jarrow but now live in Scouseland.
I was also searching for Stotties in Google to show the "calm down calm down" boys what they are missing.
Luckily we have an agent based in Newcastle and he brings a shed load down when he visits.
I googled it to show a friend what one was too hehe.
We get them here too yah greggs or the balery section of saisburys :)

Gawd Bless Google!!!
I'm not from Newcastle and have never tasted a genuine Geordie-made stottie. However, my local bakers here in the Hull area have been producing their version of a stottie for years and very successful they have been, too. They look like the one in your photograph and, also by the look of it, are the same size. So, if you are ever in Hull or East Yorkshire look out for Skeltons bakers shops. They also do a mini version of the stottie.
I'm partial to medium rare cold beef with a light sprinkling of salt in mine. Depending on where I am going I may add some onion. They must be buttered and not 'margarined'.
Good hunting to those of you who need a fix.
Hey!
