We've booked our first holiday for 2007!

We're off to Sri Lanka in February 2007 for 12 nights starting with a tour of the island and ending with a stay on the beach.

Splendours of Ceylon Tour - 6 nights
Beach Stay - 6 nights

Day 1. Fly to Sri Lanka.
Depart LGW with Qatar Airways to Colombo (via Doha)

Day 2. Arrive in Sri Lanka
Arrive in Colombo. Afternoon tour of the city.
Hotel - Colombo Holiday Inn.

Day 3. Colombo - Anuradhapura - Sigiriya.
Travel to Anuradhapura to visit the ruins of Sri Lanka's one time capital, dating back to the 4th-century BC. After lunch visit Mihintale and then continue to Sigiriya.
Hotel - Sigiriya Village Hotel, Sigiriya.

Day 4. Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa - Sigiriya.
Visit Sigiriya's Rock Fortress rising 200m above the green forests. In the rock wall you'll see frescoes. Afternoon visit to Polonnaruwa.
Hotel - Sigiriya Village Hotel, Sigiriya.

Day 5. Sigiriya - Kandy.
Morning visit to Dambulla Rock Cave Temple en route to Kandy.
Hotel - Mahaweli Reach Hotel, Kandy.

Day 6. Kandy - Pinnawela - Kandy.
In the morning visit the elephant orphanage at Pinnawela. Afternoon full city tour and visit to the Botanical Gardens and the Temple of the Tooth, housing the golden casket said to enshrine the tooth of Buddha.
Hotel - Mahaweli Reach Hotel, Kandy.

Day 7. Kandy - Nuwara Eliya.
A superb scenic drive up to 2,000m above sea level. Nuwara Eliya was designed by British tea planters to resemble an English village.
Hotel - St Andrew's Hotel.

Day 8. Nuwara Eliya - Kalutara
Depart for Kitulgala along one of Sri Lanka's most scenic roads passing the St Clare and Devon waterfalls. Lunch is taken in Kitugala overlooking the site used for the filming of Bridge Over the River Kwai. Continue to Kalutara.
Hotel - Mermaid, Kalatura

Days 9-13. Beach Resort.
All-inclusive stay at the Mermaid Hotel.

Day 14. Fly to UK.
With Qatar Airways (via Doha)
