weekend in brussels...
We've just returned form a 2 night break to Brussels to celebrate Tim's 30th birthday.
We set off from Reading at 6.02am on Friday morning and arrived at our hotel (Le Meridien) around 12.20pm.
As expected from a weekend in Brussels, there was plenty of beer drunk, waffles ate and chocolate consumed :o)

my travel map...
Found this cool website to track countries visited.

Look at all the places I've been too - a total of 10 countries. Though it's quite depressing that there's so many still grey places!
Here's hoping we get to add many more!

bellagio fountains...
I was looking round YouTube today and found videos of the Bellagio fountains which got me excited about my upcoming birthday trip.
I didn't want to watch any that I hadn't seen (they're so fantastic to watch live I didn't want to spoil it) but I managed to find a video of the song that we saw more times and any other "God Bless the USA". It was truly sickening and annoying but the fountains were still good and to me, the song now reminds me of our American Adventure in 2005.
Check it out - The Bellagio Fountains to "God Bless the USA"

more travel adventures...
Oh dear, we've done it again! Booked holiday no.4 for this year which will actually be holiday no.3 :o)
We're off to Stockholm for the weekend at Easter, going on the 7th back on the 9th. Well, it's Dan's birthday weekend so it's his birthday present too!
We've also done some planning on holiday no.4 - our Vegas trip. We've finally decided on the route for our road trip and made some reservations for motels.
The plan...
Day 1 - Drive from Vegas, NV to Williams, AZ along Route 66.
Day 2 - Day trip to the Grand Canyon South Rim on the The Canyon Train.
Day 3 - Drive from Williams, AZ to Monument Valley, UT. Afternoon at Monument Valley.
Day 4 - Drive from Monument Valley, UT to Page, AZ. Afternoon at Antelope Canyon.
Day 5 - Drive from Page, AZ to Springdale, UT. Afternoon at Zion National Park.
Day 6 - Drive from Springdale to Vegas, NV.
And it looks like it's gonna be pretty cheap. The accommodation for the 5 nights is about the same cost as 1 night at the Bellagio in Vegas!

We're back from our tropical travels!
Still feeling a bit jet lagged (thank God I don't have to go to work tomorrow) but had a fantastic time.

greetings from doha...
Hello from Doha airport!
We treated ourselves to the services of the Oryx lounge where we're lounging in comfort for the next 3 hours until our flight to SL at 2359 (2059 GMT)
It's very nice here, lots of comfy leather sofas and free food and drink. And of course, free internet access :o)
The flight from LGW wasn't too bad. Qatar Airways are very nice (well, they should be being one of only four 5 star airlines in the world!)
It's a long day today. I hope we manage to sleep on the next plane...
Bye for now!

One week to go...
It's one week today til we're off to Sri Lanka! :oD
We had to start our malaria tablets today and i'm hoping there's no side effects!
Still a few bits and pieces left to get, namely "first aid" type stuff such as malaria fighting -extra-double strength insect repellent and diarrhea pills! ;o)

bling car...
Talking of our Vegas trip, we fancy hiring a car for the day to drive out to the Hoover Dam and maybe take in Lake Mead.
So, first choices at the moment are either...
A Ford Mustang

A Hummer H2

I also like the look of this but not sure how suitable it would be for a trip into the desert...

:o)

life of luxury...
We've booked another Vegas hotel for my birthday trip.
We're spending 7 nights at the Bellagio, Debbie and Jason fly home and then we're planning a road trip taking in the national parks around Utah and Arizona for 5 nights. We're then gonna head back to the bright lights of Vegas for 2 nights before our flight home and we've booked luxury hotel no.2 - Wynn.
The Bellagio

Bellagio Room

Wynn

Wynn Room

We did think about returning to the Bellagio but thought as we'll already have been there, we might as well try out Wynn, and it was $20 less than Bellagio!
Work has now started on an itinerary for our road trip.

back from brussels...
We're back from our weekend trip to Brussels.
We had a great time and due to rain, we were forced to spend a lot of time in the bars sampling that famous Belgian beer! And of course the waffles, the chocolates, chips and mussels (well, just Dan on the last one!)
Another great Christmas present and only 25 days to our next holiday!
Me drinking beer!

vegas baby...
It's 9 months today til we're off to Vegas and already I am very very excited!
I'm already reading the Vegas forum of tripadvisor every waking moment and checking hotel prices every 5 minutes and I still have another 302 days to go (no, i'm not counting...)
There's not too much to do for Vegas, we've already secured good rates at the hotel and i've made a spreadsheet of all the local hotels to keep track of the rates for those who want cheaper accommodation. Not all the hotels have published their rates for July yet, i'm just getting prepared. The price of hotels will almost certainly come down in price nearer the time when they bring out their summer specials but at least we'll all be guaranteed a hotel with a good rate. Our flights still need sorted but we need to finalise our plan for extending our trip before we can do that.
What I should be is excited for Sri Lanka, afterall that 's only 5 months away but it's all booked and planned so there's not a lot for me to do. I am excited for the trip but half of my excitement comes from the planning and saying as Sri Lanka is a package holiday, someone else has done all the planning.
